First impressions
The Maturbator arrived in a matt black sturdy box giving a good impression from the start. The first thing you notice when picking up the box is the weight. It has a certain confident feel that you hope won’t disappoint. The device is slightly overwhelming in construction and appears to have a somewhat futuristic feel about it. There is also a version in white that would not look out of place swinging from a Storm Trooper’s belt in a Star Wars movie. I liked the look of the white much better and would probably have gone for that if I had made the purchased. There are 4 control buttons that are nicely moulded into the handle giving everything a nice clean feel. Inside the box you find the obviously the device, a protective rubberised storage bag, and USB charging cable and mini multi language instruction booklet.
Instructions
As said, the instructions are found in mini booklet in 4 European languages. I cannot vouch for the other three, but the English is poorly written in pidgin. There is basic guidance for increasing your ‘irritation’ and giving you ‘much happiness.’ For the price I feel clear instructions should be a given.
This wrestle with language is slightly distracting when what you want to do is get it going and how to clean it safely. I had to eventually go to the Bestvibe website and find more poorly written instructions, however, they gave me a better idea. Does it Rock ‘n’ Roll?
First off, the device is not designed for people who like to keep their masturbating quiet. Once your penis is inside the chamber, using a little lube, the instructions suggest you press the vacuum/sucking button. I found this did not to work despite pressing through the 3 levels. It was only later when I squeezed the chamber did the vacuum catch and a sucking feeling was felt. This was not in the instructions.
Turning on the vibrating modes, of which there are many and in the usual format of patterns, the noise from the machine could be heard in the next room during the day with closed doors. Coupled with the suction pump and the vibration motor, it is louder than I would have liked.
Everyone has their own tolerances to sensation, and mine is quite high and therefore unless I feel a device is trying to take control of me it’s not going to work. Main Features
The Good
The styling is nice, despite the size, and has a robust feel about it. Charging is generally fast and the power lasts a long time. I turned on the device with all functions and it ran for an hour consistently before any signs for power loss were heard. The specifications say it will run for 80 minutes, however, I do not know if everything was turned on at the time during factory tests.
The controls are easy to find, use and are memorable which make a nice change from some of the new toys on the market trying to be a little too clever. The device is very clean which is important to me and can also be dried. To clean the whole machine you have to insert the supplied plastic tube and immerse in water. The water is then sucked up and washes internal parts that cannot be fully submerged in water, like the main body. This is a good way to ensure hygiene and well thought out.
The Bad
It’s noisy and that covers the motor for the sucking action and vibrations. You will note in the Tech description there is mention of recorded audio built into the device. To access this you plug in a set of standard headphones and press the play control. For me this is money that could have been spent on noise reduction, rather than creation. The high pitched recording of a female enjoying sex is terrible in my opinion. Both obviously cosmetic, and not catering for those who would like to hear a deeper tone of voice, it is off putting and does not add to the experience.
Overall Thoughts?
A nice looking and well designed device in terms of comfort and cleaning, however, the noise levels and lack of specific contact with the penis does not make it a winner for me. Retailing at $69.95 on the Bestvibe web site I can’t help feel more investment went into the aesthetics that the pleasurable output.
