Despite having a tag name of HisLordship, I do not claim to hold any title to reaffirm my dynamic or provide advice via a blog. I’m a man in a Dominant and submissive relationship with my wife. There are many people on the internet who claim to be masters, born Dominants and even, ‘Jedi.’ Some of the writing I have read is excellent and provides real down to earth guidance on how to operate safely and tips on things to try. On the flip side, there are some who are full of themselves, spouting conquests and parties resembling Roman orgies. You are led to believe that this is their full time job, a life of hedonism.
I once met a slave master (in the BDSM world) who had 3 maybe 4 very attractive girls with him. I asked him what the life of a slave owner was like? He thought about it for a while and said, “My life can be tempestuous with so many girls to look after, the responsibility can, at times, be overwhelming.” He looked at me and laughed. He knew that was not the answer I expected. My perception was days of nude girls walking around the house, his bed occupying at least three people at anyone time and BDSM based activities. He asked me what my life was like? I said that we found being D/s 24/7 a challenge with a large family and both working full time. He looked over at my wife, who was dressed in revielling steampunk club wear, and smiled. I didn’t ask what HE was thinking!
My point, if there is one to this Sunday morning outpouring, is that everyone’s relationship is different. No two couples, regardless of gender or orientation are a carbon copy. In turn, advice from ‘gurus’ is a ‘one size fits all’ and should be treated as such, with caution! Taking on advice and support is key to development and growth, however, don’t be judged and don’t measure yourself against them.
